About Startup Labs

Covered from floor to ceiling in whiteboards, Startup Labs provides students with ample room to dream big, new ideas and create plans to make those ideas happen. The space also allows students the room and tools they need to prototype and build creative projects and features equipment that includes a ShopBot 3D wood router, Epilog Laser engraver, 3D printers, a vinyl cutter, and a variety of hand tools, among other equipment. A safety and training program educates users on how to utilize equipment.

Reserving Space at Startup Labs

Startup Labs is a great space for large events, club meetings, hands-on workshops and more, and reservation requests may be submitted by any ASU student, faculty or staff member.

Three sections of the Startup Labs space may be reserved for large groups:
Hall of Fame (maximum capacity of 75)
Creative Commons (maximum capacity of 49)
The Hub (maximum capacity of 200)

Visit Startup Labs (Tech Center 199) to view each of these areas, and submit your reservation request online. (Please note: you must be logged in to your ASURITE to submit your request.)

In addition, Startup Labs offers meeting rooms to accommodate groups of up to 8. These rooms can be reserved online. Alternately, meeting rooms may be used on a first-come, first-served basis. (Daily reservations posted on room doors.)

Without a reservation, we cannot guarantee space for groups of any size.

Startup Labs Workshop Schedule

All users of Startup Labs prototyping equipment must complete training on equipment before they may be granted access to use it.

Any CTI student, faculty or staff can register for a training workshop. Training workshops provide the opportunity to learn how to use equipment, including safety procedures. Once trained, CTI students, faculty and staff can proceed with using Startup Labs prototyping equipment with minimal supervision.

Please note: Many Startup Labs users want to enroll in workshops, so please do not abuse the ability to register. If you can't attend a workshop you’ve registered for, please cancel your registration at least 24 hours in advance. Failing to cancel a workshop registration 24 hours in advance and/or no-showing more than three times will result in a 1 semester workshop registration suspension. You will not be allowed to register for any workshops for the remainder of the semester.
